How the Registry Works
By joining the registry, you will have the opportunity to run workshops with and for us. To propose an event or respond to our callouts, there will be an online form that asks you to outline the event.
We will review your description before accepting, declining or postponing the proposal based on the quality of the proposal or our programme/community needs at that time.
If a callout elicits several responses, The Writers Workshop will assess them and choose the one that seems to best fit our mission, our knowledge of our membership community, and programme needs.
Please note:
Everyone joining the registry must agree to have public liability insurance in place before their first event with The Writers Workshop.
Everyone joining the registry acknowledges that they would be engaged on a freelance basis and, as such, responsible for paying tax on any income earned.
New Facilitators
We welcome interest from anyone who has limited or no experience in facilitation. In these instances, the applicant will be matched with an experienced Writers Workshop Associate, who will be paid from ticket income to advise during the planning and execution of the first event (see below).
All facilitators, regardless of prior experience, will have a full debrief with The Writers Workshop to discuss participant feedback of their first event.
Our Facilitator Fees
One-off events commissioned by The Writers Workshop will state the fee available in the callout, based on the type and duration of the event.
Events proposed by the registered individual:
In-person events: Facilitator/performer takes 85% of net ticket sales (example: A two-hour workshop attended by 10 people, each paying an average of £20, exc. Eventbrite fees, and less 15% of net ticket sales = £170)
Online events: Facilitator/performer takes 90% of net ticket sales (or 88% if using The Writers Workshop Zoom account).
Please note:
A new facilitator being supported by a Workshop Associate for their first event will split the income equally with their advisor.
A new facilitator with no prior facilitation experience cannot apply to run a commissioned workshop.
For online events that we commission, The Writers Workshop will ask for a 3-month exclusivity, i.e., you cannot deliver the same event for within that period.
A minimum attendance may be set for commissioned events. An event may be rescheduled in the event that the minimum number of bookings is not reached by a specified date.
Room Hire
By joining our register, you will access special discounts on room hire for your own events, starting from £15 per hour.
Our room holds a maximum of 12 people and is equipped with refreshments and stationery.
