Social Media & Marketing Assistant (freelance)

We are looking to recruit a freelance Social Media & Marketing Assistant from within our membership to support The Writers Workshop management team, specifically someone who:
Uses social media (specifically Instagram) to a highly competent level.
Enjoys working in a small team but works efficiently on their own.
Writes strong copy.
Wants to support the growth of The Writers Workshop.
Has an account with Canva (or equivalent).
£20 per hour, 3 hours per week, £240 per month
Preferred work schedule: 1 hour on Monday between 11am-3pm (ideally at The Workshop space), flexible hours on Wednesday, and Friday.
Trial period: 3 months, beginning October 2025.
Role description
This is a freelance post and applicants are responsible for paying their own tax.
Develop social media content for The Writers Workshop, including images and videos showcasing our work.
Issue calls for content from Members & Associates, to be shared in our newsletters and platforms.
Monitor the Workshop Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook accounts, and reply to any messages regarding the events programme or refer other enquiries to the management team accordingly.
Write at least one LinkedIn post, blog, or e-bulletin per month on a topic pertaining to writing, reading, or the business of publication.
Any other marketing tasks as deemed necessary from time to time (e.g., in relation to special events).
