  • No. Whether you’ve had work published or haven’t yet put pen to paper, you’re welcome here.

  • We welcome anyone interested in writing, across all genres and styles. There’s no need to fit a particular mould. If you’re interested in a specific genre and can’t find a session, please let us know at hello@thewritersworkshop.co.uk.

  • Our events vary in format, including one-off workshops, multi-session courses, and themed sessions. Each event listing will outline what to expect, but all sessions are designed to be welcoming and supportive, so you can take part in a way that feels comfortable for you. For example, for our open mic events, you can perform a piece or simply come to listen.

  • No, sharing is always optional and there is no pressure to read your work aloud.

  • We run a mix of both. Each event listing includes the format so you can see what suits you.

  • You can find and book all of our events through Eventbrite.

  • We offer a range of events that are free, pay as you feel, and paid. Paid events vary between £3 for our meet-ups to £25 for a skills session. Discounts are available to members. You can join as a member here.

  • The Writers Workshop location in Orchard Square is not currently accessible for those who need step-free access. However, we are currently trialling a partnership with a local venue to provide step-free access, should this be required.

  • We want to make our workshop environment as welcoming as we can to all. Please contact the workshop facilitator directly via Eventbrite, or contact us at hello@thewritersworkshop.co.uk to discuss how we can support you.

  • Yes, discounted tickets are available for members on selected workshops. You can join as a member here.

  • You do not have to commit to a certain term. We have one tier of membership which you can sign up for £7 a month, or £80 a year. More information about what membership includes can be found on our Join page.

  • Each event is a little different, and the event listing will outline what to expect. You don’t need experience to join, and sharing your work is always optional. You’re welcome to bring whatever you prefer to write with.

    For example, a one-off workshop might involve a writing prompt followed by an optional sharing and group discussion.
