Letting the Light in - Therapeutic Creative Writing
"Letting the Light in" was the latest in an ongoing monthly series of therapeutic creative writing workshops, where participants are given a theme to enable them to explore different aspects of self and what it is to be human. Using the words of other writers as prompts, such as Leonard Cohen who sang "There is a crack, a crack in everything/ That's how the light gets in", we wrote about how these ideas around letting light in apply to our own lives.
“It is an absolute joy for me to be part of people’s self-discovery through writing. ”
From the Facilitator
What I loved about this workshop, and what I have loved about all the workshops in this series, is witnessing the magic of people surprising themselves with what they discover through writing when they allow themselves to experiment with words and ideas, and gag the self-critic and the self-censor. After each write, there is an opportunity to share writing and when people do that it is always so beautiful because it is written from the heart. The other thing I really love is the way in which people's responses to one another provide such a sense of comfort and support. It's such a moving thing to be a part of and a huge privilege to be the facilitator.
