The Royal Literary Fund
The Royal Literary Fund (RLF) is a UK charity that helps writers in financial need, annually delivering over £5 million in grants, education, and outreach programmes.
Founded in 1790, the RLF offers a range of grants to professional writers facing unexpected bills or reduced income due to changes in circumstances, sickness, or disability. Their RLF Education programmes have created earning opportunities for over 750 professional writers at over 100 universities and institutions across the UK, with many writers going on to lead reading groups, expressive writing sessions, and workplace writing programmes.
Central to the RLF is a belief that writers matter, and that professional writers should be able to sustain themselves even when times are hard.
